The new kitchen doors, tiles & sink - a vast improvement we think.

It is understandable that small businesses and individuals may feel that they can’t afford to pay for an interior designer, or that the designs and goods may be too expensive. But in fact, if you employ a designer who understands your brief and budget, then they will work with this information and avoid over spending.

The interior designer’s main aim is to provide you, the client, with a space that meets your needs, and with furniture and furnishings that are fit for purpose, of good quality and made to last.

Undertaking the fit out for a new property or business, or the refurbishment of an existing space can be an expensive undertaking – this is understood. But clients’ budget should always be borne in mind so that over specifying doesn’t become an issue.

The second important point to consider is that, in employing a professional to project manage the job means that you save your valuable time and can stick to running your own business. It is up to the designer to organise contractors and timetable. It is also up to the designer/project manager to chase deliveries, adhere to timetable and address on site issues. If this is done professionally you stand a winning chance of getting your project delivered to specification and, importantly, on time.

So in essence, employing the services of an interior designer should save you time, money and stress!

The project included bricking up an existing side door and the knocking through and installation of new patio windows to the garden end of the kitchen. The new plans allowed for more storage and also a dining area near to the patio doors, so despite having a larger door area in the end wall, CH Design managed to achieve additional kitchen unit space into the new plans.

Also shown are photos taken before the work commenced – these show the previous bathroom and bedroom. The rooms were swapped around so what was the bedroom became the new bathroom & dressing room, and the old en-suite became the bedroom, due to it having more windows and light, and an original slate & tiles fireplace.

In many homes the bathroom may well be the smallest room, however it needs to function practically as well being an inviting relaxing space that you want to spend time indulging yourself in. So before committing to spending a lot of money on fixtures and fittings spend some time planning the space properly, maybe even decide to get professional help as it could save you a lot of wasted time and money in the long run.

Kitchen units can be quite a costly investment, so choose wisely and don’t be too bucked by trends that may quickly become ‘dated’; instead go for something that you really like, and in a simple style and finish that can be updated easily by altering the decorations that go with it, such as, wall finishes and free-standing pieces of furniture.

CH Design met up with a few other businesses in Cornwall and we had interesting discussions about  overcoming our challenges  and taking on new ones with a positive attitude.
